Frequently Asked Questions About Senior Portraits in Baltimore
When is the best time to schedule senior portraits in Baltimore?
The best time to schedule senior portraits in Baltimore is typically during the late spring of the junior year, summer, or early fall before senior year becomes especially busy. Fall offers beautiful colors and cooler temperatures, while summer provides longer evenings and more flexibility with schedules. Booking early also ensures access to the best dates before calendars quickly fill for both the senior and the photographer.
Where are the best locations for senior photos in Baltimore?
Baltimore and Howard County offer an incredible variety of backdrops for senior portraits. Urban locations, such as Old Ellicott City or Fells Point, provide a timeless city feel with historic architecture and textured streets. Waterfront areas, such as parks with lakes as well as Annapolis, create a clean, modern backdrop with beautiful light, while parks and natural spaces throughout Howard County and surrounding Maryland areas offer a softer, more relaxed setting with greenery and open space. Choosing a location that reflects your personality helps create images that feel authentic and meaningful.
How long does a senior portrait session last?
Most senior portrait sessions last one hour. This allows enough time to create a relaxed experience without feeling rushed while also giving space for natural moments, movement, and a variety of images throughout the session.
What should I wear for my senior photos?
For senior portraits, it is best to wear clothing that feels comfortable, timeless, and true to your personality. Neutral tones, soft colors, and classic pieces tend to photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you. It is also helpful to avoid overly distracting logos or busy patterns. Many seniors choose a mix of casual and slightly dressier outfits to create variety throughout their gallery. Most importantly, choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Claudia is happy to answer any questions about attire.
Do you travel outside Howard County for senior portraits?
Yes! Senior portrait sessions are available throughout Baltimore, Howard County, and surrounding Maryland areas, including the District of Columbia. I do charge a small travel fee of $50 to travel greater than 30 miles roundtrip for a session. Whether you are looking for an urban Baltimore backdrop, a waterfront location, or a quieter outdoor setting closer to home, sessions can be customized to fit the location and style you envision.
Can parents join the senior portrait session?
Absolutely. Parents are always welcome to attend senior portrait sessions. Parents can help with outfit changes, lint rolling, or anything else their senior might need.
How far in advance should I book a senior photographer in Baltimore?
It is recommended to book senior portraits several months in advance, especially for fall spots which fill quickly. Senior year calendars become busy very fast, and early booking allows for more flexibility with scheduling, location choices, and yearbook submission deadlines.
Do you offer multiple outfit changes for senior portraits?
Yes. Two outfit changes are included during a senior portrait session. If a senior would like more than two outfits, a small fee of $25 will be added to the session fee.
Can seniors bring props and caps and gowns to their session?
Yes! Anything that showcases your senior’s personality is great! Whether it’s an instrument, a class ring, a cap & gown, flowers, pets, it is all welcome!

Senior year has a way of moving faster than anyone expects. These images become more than photographs; they become a way to hold onto a fleeting chapter before it quietly turns into a memory.
