As a Maryland Newborn photographer, I utilize a lifestyle photography approach, meaning I use a documentary style that captures your entire family—your newborn alone, with siblings, and even with pets. This approach focuses on genuine connection, preserving the interactions between family members, the quiet, unseen moments, and those that might otherwise go unnoticed, all within the comfort of your home. Families choose lifestyle newborn photography in Baltimore because the first few weeks with a new baby pass quickly, and there is a deep desire to preserve and hold onto each of those moments—tiny features, gentle connections, and the natural rhythm of life with a newborn. Unlike heavily posed studio sessions, a lifestyle approach to newborn photography in Baltimore is baby-led and unhurried, focusing on authentic interaction rather than rigid posing. Based in Howard County, I serve families throughout Baltimore and the surrounding Maryland communities, striving to provide a warm presence that allows elegant images to unfold naturally.

The Newborn Photoshoot Experience

When to Book Your Newborn Photoshoot?
I recommend booking during your second trimester. If you are planning to do a maternity session as well, the second trimester is the ideal time to book.
When to schedule the newborn session?
First of all, please let your photographer know when your baby arrives! The session will usually be scheduled between 7 to 21 days after the birth of the baby.
Preparing for your Newborn Photography Session
I will send an email with all of the details on how to prep your house and clothing guidance for the day of the session. I am happy to help on the day of to prepare the rooms that will be used for the session. The rooms do not need to be spotless. All that I need is a window and subjects.
During the Session
My pace is calm and relaxed, and I allow for breaks for feeding. I always include siblings and pets, if desired. The session may last up to two hours.
Following the Session
All of the images taken will be carefully culled and edited and placed into an online gallery. Within 2-3 weeks of the session, my clients can expect to receive their gallery.
Receiving the Gallery
Within the personalized gallery, the client can choose to order prints, canvases, and digital images in an a la carte format, a collection, or the entire digital gallery. The prints that are ordered will be printed through a professional lab.

Newborn Photography Locations

I do newborn photography sessions in the comfort of your home. Photographing in your home allows the newborn and siblings to be in a familiar and comfortable space and is conducive to producing better images.
I am happy to take photos of you and your family both inside and outside of your home.

I photograph families in Howard County and the surrounding counties of Carroll County, Baltimore County, Montgomery County and DC.
If you live outside of Howard County and greater than 15 miles from my location round trip, there is a travel fee added.

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ- about Newborn Photography in Baltimore

When should I book newborn photography in Baltimore?
The best time to inquire and book is during your second trimester (Weeks 13-20 are preferred). This is especially true if you are planning on booking a maternity session. The maternity session is typically scheduled for weeks 25-34 of pregnancy.
How old should my baby be for newborn photos?

7–21 days preferred, but can be up to 3 months if you’d like a more interactive session with the newborn. Since I utilize a lifestyle posing, my photography lends itself well to a session anywhere in the 7 day- 3 month time frame.
Do you travel for newborn photography sessions?

Yes, I travel up to an hour from my location. There is a small travel fee for distances greater than 30 miles roundtrip from my residence.
How long does a newborn photoshoot take?

A newborn session is a more relaxed, baby-led session. We can stop as many times as needed for feedings and toddler snack breaks. That being said, the average session length is 1 hours, 40 minutes. The newborn session can range anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours.
What should parents and siblings wear?

I highly recommend neutrals and solid prints. I love whites and creamy neutrals in newborn sessions. However, I am not here to police what you wear. I give general guidance but if you love navy blue, you can certainly wear that color. I don’t recommend neon colors and big logos.
Is newborn photography safe?

Yes, I am more cautious than the parents. I will never leave a baby unattended anywhere. If I need a parent’s help with a newborn or the sibling, I will gladly ask for assistance.
Do you offer in-home newborn photography in Baltimore, MD?

Yes, I offer newborn photography in Baltimore. While I am centrally located in Howard County, Maryland, I will happily travel to your home in and around Howard County.
How much does newborn photography in Baltimore cost?

I structure my newborn pricing to make it more affordable to most budgets. I have a session fee that covers the in-person service on the day of the session as well as the pre-session consultation. The fee for the digital products (the online digital gallery) covers my time in culling and carefully editing each of the images that are then delivered in an online gallery. This fee is separate to allow families of various budgets to be able to purchase what is most important to them. The session fee is $195 and the collections range from $295-$499. There are also options to purchase professional lab prints as well as canvases and art prints through the gallery link.
